HALIFAX - The Nova Scotia NDP says one of its members who lost his seat in Tuesday's provincial election is seeking a recount.

Jim Morton was defeated in the riding of Kings North by Progressive Conservative John Lohr by 32 votes.

NDP spokeswoman Jennifer Stewart said in an email that a judicial recount has been scheduled for Oct. 21.

Morton was elected in 2009.

Elections Nova Scotia says the deadline to request a recount of the results is Tuesday.
