CHARLOTTETOWN - Several Prince Edward Island community facilities in rural areas will receive funding from the provincial and federal governments.

The province says the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency will contribute more than $164,000, while the provincial government will invest more than $106,000 for improvements to infrastructure in three communities.

The work includes renovations to Alberton's Camp Kildare, upgrades to the Western Community Curling Club in Alberton to make it more accessible and energy efficient and improvements to an arena and ball field in Tignish.

The Royal Canadian Legion in Ellerslie will also receive funding for improving access to the building and landscaping.
