Toronto Pan Am Games struggle to gain popularity

The city of Lima, Peru was awarded the 2019 Pan Am Games and, with less than two years before the 2015 Games open in Toronto, the main concern for the organizers hasn't been logistics or transportation, but the lack of popularity of the event in the host city.

Despite being the biggest sporting event Canada has ever hosted -- far bigger than the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics in number of athletes and events -- The Games have struggled to capture the attention of a broader audience in Toronto.

"This is going to be tireless work," Curt Hartnett, Canada's chef de mission for the Pan Ams told CBC Sports' Peter Armstrong. "Getting people to really understand what these Games are is going to be something very, very challenging."
