A 34-year-old man has been charged in the stabbing death of a woman at an apartment building in northwest Toronto.

Early Sunday morning, police were called to 33 King Street, near Weston Road, where they found a woman suffering from stab wounds.

Leila Chandrapaul, 37, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man, 34-year-old Areef Khan, was arrested at the scene and has been charged with second-degree murder.

Police had described the incident as a domestic situation, but were unclear about the nature of the relationship between Khan and Chandrapaul.

Khan is scheduled to appear in court Monday morning.
