CALGARY - A former foster parent has been charged with sexually assaulting a youth who was in his care.

In August 2013, police received information from a man who claimed he had been sexually abused while in a Calgary-area foster home.

Rodney James Marcynuik, who is 39, of Airdrie, has been charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, and sexual exploitation by a person in trust or authority.

It is believed that 18 foster children, all boys, have lived under the care of Marcynuik and his wife between 2001 and 2010.

Calgary police have not yet spoken with all of the other boys who lived in the home.
