Early in the second period, Trouba was chasing a dump-in behind the St. Louis net as his skate appeared to get tangled up with Blues defenceman Jordan Leopold. Trouba stumbled and fell face-first into the end boards.
Trouba lay face-down on the ice for several minutes as trainers tended to him. Medical personnel then took him off the ice on a stretcher. Trouba was seen as alert while leaving a managed giving a thumbs up to the home fans at MTS Centre in Winnipeg.
Jets spokesperson Scott Brown announced on Twitter that Trouba was "taken to hospital for x-rays. He is alert, communicating, and moving all limbs."
Fans kept Trouba in mind as they celebrated the Jets' 4-3 shootout win.
The 19-year-old was the Jets' ninth overall pick in the 2012 NHL Draft. He has played in all eight of the Jets’ games this season, with one goal and one assist.
This is the third time this week a stretcher was needed in an NHL game.
On Tuesday, left the game on a stretcher following a hit from Blues forward for the hit Friday. On Thursday, Detroit Red Wings defenceman after he was rammed into the boards by Colorado's with the NHL next week.
