A Canadian woman is dead following the collapse of a balcony at a Mexican resort.
Shannon Amy Guy, 24, was on her honeymoon when her third-floor balcony collapsed Wednesday at the Oasis Tulum resort in the Mayan Riviera, CTV Ottawa reports.
According to friends with Guy, she and her husband, Paul, were moved to the honeymoon suite. The couple was later joined by two more Canadians on the balcony where Paul took photos.
Eventually a glass panel on the railing gave way, causing all four Canadians to fall to the ground the CBC reports. Everyone was later taken to hospital where Shannon was pronounced dead.
Paul's mother, Darlene, said the event has shaken her son.
"He just kept saying, 'I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.' He feels sorry because it wasn't him," his mother told the CBC "... He's crying so much that we can't make anything out."
Guy and her husband left Canada for Mexico on Oct. 15, according to a statement on Guy's Facebook page.

The couple were celebrating their Aug. 2 marriage and were married for a little over two months according to the Ottawa Citizen.
Foreign Affairs has released a statement confirming that one Canadian has died and that two others were injured but declined to provide more information in order to protect the privacy of the deceased, notes the Toronto Sun.
"Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of the Canadian who passed away and the 2 other Canadians who were injured," wrote John Babcock, a spokesperson with Foreign Affairs, in a statement emailed to The Huffington Post Canada.
The couple's nine-month-old and three-year-old daughters were left in the care of family in Ottawa while the couple were in Mexico, according to 1310 News.com.
Mexican authorities are working with Canadian consular officials for more leads into what caused the deadly collapse and providing consular assistance to those affected.
