A Coast Mountain Bus driver was reportedly assaulted by a passenger in Surrey, according to a news release from Surrey RCMP.

RCMP were called around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday morning by a passenger who said that another passenger had assaulted the driver near Fraser Highway and 148th Street.

The suspect, a 16-year-old boy from Surrey, allegedly punched the male driver, who was treated for minor injuries.

The teenager had left the scene when police arrived and was tracked with the help of a police dog, RCMP say.

The suspect was arrested, taken into custody, and then released to a parent. Charges are pending.
