Johnny deOliveira, 21, and Beckie Dyer, 19, were killed when a Toyota driven by nurse Andelina Hecimovic skidded, flipped over and slammed into their Suzuki Swift.
Hecimovic, now 26, was found not guilty of two counts of dangerous driving causing death in September.
But the Crown alleges the judge made an error by applying an incorrect legal standard in determining the not guilty verdict. Crown lawyers will ask for the acquittal to be set aside and a new trial ordered.
Crash investigators alleged Hecimovic was driving aggressively on the night of the crash, but Hecimovic testified she was distraught from working her shift as a nurse, and failed to see the lights at the intersection through her tears
