The accident happened around 8:10 p.m.by a bike path situated near Jean-Baptiste-Rolland Boulevard. Witnesses reported that the victim, identified only as a man in his mid-30s, was walking along the train tracks next to bike path and didn’t appear to notice the oncoming train.
Police said the victim died on impact. He has been identified but his name has not been released, pending notification of his family.
St-Jérôme police said that all warning signals and safety features at the train crossing were working at the time of the accident.
Train service resumed this morning at 5:30 a.m.
