Toronto Mayor Rob Ford is predicting next year’s municipal election will be a "bloodbath," with Coun. Karen Stintz now officially in the race.

"If the benches clear, the benches clear. And the gloves come off," he said in one of several hockey metaphors.

Ford made the comments as he unveiled what he calls "haunted house" — his office adorned with Halloween decorations.

Stintz announced she would contest Ford for mayor on Sunday, 364 days before the vote.

With Stintz and Ford, there are three people seeking the mayoralty. Former Scarborough councillor and budget chief David Soknacki is also running.
