After six reported sexual assaults at UBC, students and activists took to the Vancouver campus in protest on Wednesday evening. The Take Back The Night march highlighted every woman's right to feel safe when darkness falls—something that has been taken away from female students in recent months.
Many participants shared their experience on Twitter:
CKNW shared a photo, estimating that about 100 people were there.
Vancouver Rape Relief tweeted a photo of member Summer-Rain from the Squamish nation giving a speech at the rally.
If you look close enough at CBC News reporter Emily Elias's photo, you can see two women in a warm embrace:
Twitter user Jean Fong retweeted a photo that shows the Vancouver Rape Relief banner held high over the crowd.
And as indicated in a photo tweeted by CKNW repoerter Janet Brown, the rain didn't stop the march.
