RCMP allege Wallin committed fraud, breach of trust

The RCMP have reason to believe that Senator Pamela Wallin committed fraud and breach of trust by filing inappropriate expenses claims, CBC News has learned from documents filed in court on Oct. 28.

The documents filed by the RCMP National Division in Ottawa allege that Wallin "defrauded the Senate" between Jan. 2, 2009 and Sept. 30, 2012 in an amount exceeding $5,000 "by deceit, falsehood, or other fraudulent means."

The alleges are contained in the information to obtain a production order filed with the court to aid the RCMP's investigation.

The allegations have not been proven in court.

Senators Mike Duffy and Patrick Brazeau are also under investigation.

More to come.
