Today's young adults have a tough time putting away childish things.
The good news for them is that, in Vancouver and elsewhere, there are plenty of reasons not to, as the region plays host to several activities that kids love, but that are happy to accommodate adults.
Tag! You're It! Vancouver taps into the child in all of us. It's a meetup group that gathers once a month in public parks to play games such as Freeze Tag, Capture the Flag and Human Foosball.
They next meet for a game of Tag at East Vancouver's Clark Park on Nov. 24 at 2 p.m.
When was the last time you flew a kite? Kitsilano's Vanier Park is one of the best places to do it.
The park, located along False Creek just across from English Bay, is a beautiful location with winds that create perfect conditions for flying an aerial craft.
Steveston's Garry Point Park is another popular spot. Here, the wind comes off the Fraser River into a 75-acre park that looks out to Vancouver Island in the distance.
One of the park's most popular features is a wide open field where flyers test all kinds of kites, be they diamond- or delta-shaped. They even attach them to buggies and let the wind carry them forward.

Things To Do In Vancouver: Kid Stuff Adults Can Do
Disc golf is another popular outdoor activity among Vancouverites. One of the best places to play it is at Queen Elizabeth Park, where the sloping ground makes it difficult to hit all the targets on the course. Jericho Hill offers a similar experience, but you'll find flatter ground at the Quilchena course.
Those who like golf but can't afford to hit the links can try any number of pitch-and-putt courses around the city. They serve as excellent training grounds for young golfers but adults can enjoy them just the same.
The Stanley Park Pitch and Putt offers 18 holes ranging from 40 to 100 yards in distance.
The Rupert Park Pitch and Putt in East Vancouver is more challenging, with trees and ponds that make it tough to stay above par.
Anyone craving a little combat can check out North Shore Paintball in North Vancouver. The facility looks like a war zone, with woods, hills and structures that have been splattered with paint.
More recently, the venue hosted the Zombie Survival Zone, a Halloween-themed paintball game that pitted players against the undead.
Meanwhile, Delta Force Tsawwassen also offers a combat zone that's been built to resemble a movie set.
Those who wish to take their trigger-happy fun inside should go to Richmond Indoor Paintball, which offers a "Call of Duty"-like experience with bunkers, cars and steel barrels.
Less painful, but still combat-like, is laser tag, which can be experienced at Planet Lazer in Richmond, where Justin Bieber was famously accused of assaulting another player.
The three-storey, 14,000-square-foot facility offers up to 48 players a chance to dodge lasers amidst dark sci-fi lighting. Planet Lazer also has locations in New Westminster, Langley and Abbotsford.
A trampoline is fun on its own, but have you ever played dodgeball on it? Richmond's Extreme Air Park offers the chance to lob balls, play basketball or launch yourself into a foam pit.
Finally, for those who crave speed, there's Richmond Go Karts, a half-mile outdoor track that beckons both kids and adults. Drivers can also check out TBC Indoor Racing, which has 13 turns and karts that reach speeds of up to 75 kilometres per hour.
So the next time you miss your childhood, don't feel ashamed. The Vancouver area offers plenty to tap into the kid in all of us.
