ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - A provincial byelection will be held in Newfoundland and Labrador later this month to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of the province's former finance minister.

Premier Kathy Dunderdale says the byelection in the district of Carbonear-Harbour Grace will take place Nov. 26.

The seat has been vacant since Oct. 2 when Jerome Kennedy left his post as finance minister to return to practising law.

Tom Marshall was appointed to Kennedy's job in an acting capacity and was later named finance minister in a cabinet shuffle.
