Trial date set for man accused of killing central Alberta woman with explosive

RED DEER, Alta. - A man charged in the bombing death of a single mother in central Alberta is to stand trial in early 2015.

Brian Malley is charged with first-degree murder and other offences in the death of Victoria Shachtay (SHAK'-tay).

She died on Nov. 25, 2011, when a package delivered to her apartment in Innisfail exploded.

Malley was the 23-year-old woman's financial advisor.

A jury trial has been scheduled for Jan. 25 to March 6, 2015, in Red Deer.

A change of venue application is expected to be heard on May 12 and hearings to determine if certain evidence can be presented is set for Dec. 8, 2014. (CHUB)
