Cyclist in hospital with serious head injuires

A 45-year-old man is in hospital with major head injuries, after he was hit by the mirror of a pick-up truck on Montreal's South Shore.

The accident happened Tuesday at around 4 p.m. near Ste-Julie, which is about 30 km away from Montreal.

The cyclist was travelling on Montée Ste-Julie, when he turned into a reserved car lane.

It appears he was not wearing a helmet.

Traffic was diverted from the site of the accident for several hours Tuesday evening.

Police are investigating to determine the cause of the accident.
