EDMONTON - Edmonton police are investigating after an 81-year-old woman was hit by her stolen car in a fast food drive-thru.

Police say the senior noticed her Nissan Sentra was missing early Tuesday morning.

A few minutes later, she spotted the car in a McDonald's drive-thru and started walking toward the vehicle.

Police say the car struck the woman as it left the drive-thru and made its getaway.

She was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Officers found the car about an hour later, but there was no sign of the driver.

The car has been taken in for forensic analysis but no description of the man driving the car is available, according to the Edmonton Police Service.
