REGINA - Ten patients in Saskatchewan have been contacted after their diagnostic imaging results were mistakenly sent to the wrong address.

Officials with eHealth Saskatchewan say human error is to blame for the mistake.

Spokeswoman Susan Antosh says a phone number was incorrectly entered into their fax machine.

The error affected 18 results in three different health districts between Aug. 14 and Oct. 3.

The Saskatoon Health Region had the lions share with 16. Prince Albert Parkland and the Sunrise health regions each had one.

Antosh says the mistake was spotted by one of the health regions, and the misdirected faxes were destroyed and the affected patients were contacted.

She says eHealth Saskatchewan takes full responsibility for the error and regrets any concern caused to patients.

The employee responsible for the mistake will not face disciplinary action, said Antosh.

"We reiterated how important it is those numbers be entered correctly," adding they have measures in place to safeguard against future incidents.
