Five thousand miniature Canadian flags pepper the lawn of the George Derby residential centre in Burnaby, B.C., for Remembrance Day, on Thursday morning.

They were planted by students and teachers from Cariboo Hill Secondary School across the street and they will stay there until Monday, Nov. 11.

The organizers are asking people to dedicate them to those who died in a war or served overseas.
