BOYLE, Alta. - An Edmonton man has been charged with dangerous and impaired driving after a police cruiser was forced into the ditch by a transport truck.

Boyle RCMP say it happened today when a police officer was driving in a cruiser with lights activated on Highway 63.

Police say a tractor-trailer driving the other way was trying to pass other vehicles and forced the cruiser into the ditch.

While other officers were trying locate the semi, another call came in that the truck slid through a stop sign at Atmore Junction, crashing into the side of another tractor-trailer.

No one was injured in either crash.

A 54-year-old man who police did not name is set to appear in provincial court on Dec. 24 to face several charges.
