MISSION, B.C. - An elementary school in the Fraser Valley community of Mission, B.C., will remain closed on Tuesday because of an apparent act of vandalism.

Ecole Christine Morrison offers French immersion and regular English programs to about 465 students between kindergarten and Grade 6.

But Global News is reporting that graffiti was left on the building, and the RCMP has recommended the school remain closed for safety reasons.

Superintendent of schools Bill Fletcher says police will return to the facility on Tuesday and he expects classes to resume the following day.

Officials have now painted over the graffiti, but some staff members spent the day notifying parents about the closure.

Fletcher says officials have dealt with the problem a few times in the past. (Global BC)
