For fans of Chatelaine in recent years, this news will come as a blow — Jane Francisco, the editor-in-chief since 2009, is leaving the publication to head up Good Housekeeping, one of the key players in the Hearst Corporation's lifestyle genre. Francisco replaces Rosemary Ellis, who has been in the role since 2006.

Thrilled + proud to announce I will be joining @HearstCorp + the team at @goodhousemag!! Iconic mag, exciting brand, amazing opportunities!

Francisco, who has worked previously at other Canadian magazines like Style at Home, Glow and Wish, has been credited with revamping Chatelaine and courting a younger audience since she started in the job. While some controversy accompanied her original appointment — she was the fourth EIC in five years — she was always quick to attribute any of her success to hard work and surrounding herself with people who knew what they were doing, as she told Vitamin Daily.

Many of her colleagues, both past and present, were quick to send their good wishes on her new editor-in-chief role:

Exciting news @janefrancisco! The folks at @HearstCorp and @goodhousemag couldn't be luckier!

Congrats Jane! What exciting news! @janefrancisco from @Chatelaine is the new EIC of @goodhousemag.

In perhaps the funniest kind of social media misunderstanding, some believed there was a different person appointed for the job:

Don't worry, everyone, James Franco is *not* the new EIC of Good Housekeeping. Jane Francisco is. Really confused me for a sec. But what if?

All in all, we couldn't help but grin at the tweet from her soon to be ex-magazine, who sent her on her way with hugs and exclamation marks.

Congrats! We are so proud of you! MT @janefrancisco: I'll miss amazing @Chatelaine team immensely!

That's the kind of Canadian attitude we can only hope Francisco brings to her new job.
