CBCNews.ca nominated for 9 online publishing awards

CBCNews.ca is up for nine honours tonight at the annual Canadian Online Publishing Awards ceremony in Toronto, including best overall online-only publication website and best infographic.

Founded in 2009, the online awards cover news media, consumer magazines and business-to-business media. In each area, 15 awards are presented.

CBCNews.ca drew the most the most nominations of any entrant in any category. Maclean's was second with eight in consumer magazines, while the Globe and Mail and the Toronto Star tied with seven  each in news media.

The awards are produced by the publishing industry journal MastheadOnline to honour the best in Canadian online publishing.

CBC websites were nominated for nine awards in the news media section, in the categories of best:

- Overall online-only publication website.

- Website design.

- News coverage.

- Cross-platform initiative.

- Smartphone app.

- Mobile-optimized website.

- Infographic.
