MISSISSAUGA, Ont. - Police say two off-duty officers had to restrain an intoxicated man who was pounding on the crew cabin door of a passenger jet after he was cut off from alcohol service.

Peel regional police say two flight attendants were assaulted when they tried to defuse the situation Monday afternoon during a flight from Poland to Toronto.

Investigators say two off-duty police officers from Halton region southwest of Toronto intervened and restrained the 40-year-old man until the plane landed at Pearson International Airport.

Peel tactical officers boarded the plane and arrested the man without incident.

Henryk Glowala of St. Catharines, Ont., is charged with two counts of assault with a weapon and one count of endangering the safety of an aircraft.
