The ski slopes may be opening early at Whistler, but you won't have to hit those heights to see snow this weekend.

According to Environment Canada, a cold front headed our way means ideal conditions for flurries in Metro Vancouver on Saturday. A temperature drop at the beginning of next week could result in the white stuff hanging around for a while.

“This is not a crippling snow event for Metro Vancouver,” Doug Lundquist, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, told The Vancouver Sun. “But we may see some snow stick on the ground at higher elevations.”

Things are likely to be much whiter in Prince George, where some areas could see more than 10 cm tonight and tomorrow, an Environment Canada alert notes.
