Semin, 28, has struggled to find his scoring touch this season with the Hurricanes, scoring just three goals and six assists in 20 games.
The six-foot-two, 209-pound winger is coming off a 13 goal, 31 assist campaign in 44 games during the lockout-shortened season last year.
Originally drafted in the first round (13th overall) by the Washington Capitals in 2002, Semin has never played a full season in the NHL.
In 533 career games, the winger has 214 goals and 248 assists, while scoring a career high 40 goals in 2009-10.
