OTTAWA - Parliament Hill will be alive today with the sound of more than just politicians.

Instead of mountains, the Peace Tower will be the backdrop as the National Arts Centre launches the count-down to the opening of the English Theatre’s production of The Sound of Music.

Eliza-Jane Scott will play the part of Maria, raising her arms for a photo op in front of the Parliament buildings to mark the occasion.

Inside, the federal political parties will hold their weekly caucus meetings to hash out the priorities for the rest of the week and beyond.

Other events planned for Ottawa today:

- The issues of the day, including the Senate spending scandal and the robocalls affair, will be put to the test in another 45-minute round of question period in the House of Commons.

- Statistics Canada will be out with a couple of releases, on wholesale trade for September and the annual health reports for 2012.
