Toronto driver charged in squash player’s death

A Toronto man has been charged in the death of a talented squash player, who was killed on his bicycle when he was struck by a BMW yesterday morning.

The deadly collision happened at the intersection of Yukon Lane and Sheppard Avenue West, near the Allen Expressway, shortly after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Toronto police say that a cyclist was attempting to cross the west side of the intersection when he was struck by a westbound BMW.

Adrian Dudzicki, the victim, was an internationally ranked squash player who had previously lived in Ottawa. He had moved to Toronto in recent years.

The driver now faces charges of dangerous driving causing death and criminal negligence causing death.

The accused, Aleksey Aleksev, 20, of Toronto, appeared in court on Thursday.
