The Senate spending scandal will continue to dominate the session.
But the prime minister and his principal opposition rivals are expected to be absent, leaving the questions and answers to their underlings.
Childish behaviour from adults aside, the Senate will be full of local school kids to mark National Child Day with an hour-long program showcasing the accomplishments and potential of young Canadians.
Other events planned in Ottawa today include:
— The Supreme Court of Canada renders a decision in two appeals on the sale of generic drugs. The cases pit Katz Group Canada and Shoppers Drug Mart against Ontario's minister of Health and Long-Term Care.
— Statistics Canada releases the retail trade figures for September and the consumer price index for October.
— Gov. Gen. David Johnston presides over an Order of Canada investiture ceremony at Rideau Hall.
— Former CBC newsman Don Newman hosts a panel discussion on Canadian health-care reform at the Economic Club of Canada.
