Man rode TTC bus with loaded gun in pocket, police say

A Toronto man was caught riding a TTC bus during the noon hour with a loaded revolver in his pocket, a finding which police say led to a search of his home where they found drugs and another gun.

Toronto police issued a news release on Wednesday, reporting that they had been investigating a man riding a bus in the city’s Malvern neighbourhood on Nov. 21.

The man was arrested, which is when police say they found the loaded revolver.

Police then went to his house where they found a second loaded revolver as well as “a quantity of narcotics.”

Darnell Garnes, 18, now faces 16 drug and weapons charges. He is due to appear in court on Friday.

This is not the first time this year that police have arrested someone with a loaded gun on a bus.
