RCMP in Coquitlam want to speak to the man who scratched the licence plate number of a suspect vehicle on the sidewalk using a rock, following a collision that killed two pedestrians at the intersection of Austin Avenue and Gatensbury Street in Coquitlam.

Mounties believe the unidentified man also witnessed the collision that killed 76-year-old Juan Rosales and his wife, 66-year-old Marta Rosales shortly before 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police are currently investigating the elderly owner of a grey Dodge pickup truck they believe is responsible for the collision. The driver initially fled the scene but the vehicle was later located parked at a home near the site of the collision.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Coquitlam RCMP.
