Today on the Hill: Language commish to talk about immersion programs

OTTAWA - Canada's linguistic landscape will be up for discussion on two fronts on Parliament Hill today.

Languages Commissioner Graham Fraser is to appear today at a Commons committee to talk about second language immersion programs.

And former senator Pierre De Bane appears at the Senate's official languages committee to discuss the CBC/Radio-Canada's obligations under the Official Languages Act.

Other events on the Parliament Hill today:

- The Egyptian Canadian Coalition for Democracy will launch a campaign called Egyptians Worldwide for Democracy and Justice.

- Gov. Gen. David Johnston has a busy day ahead. First, he'll meet with Vu Van Ninh, Vietnam's deputy prime minister. Later he presents the the 2013 Canadian Health Research Awards.
