Overpowering PMO: Michael Chong's bid to fix Parliament

Conservative MP Michael Chong is tabling a bill this morning to give MPs more power within party caucuses, expected to include a proposal to give them the ability to turf their party leaders.

Chong will discuss the bill after it has been tabled. CBC News will carry his press conference live starting at 10:30 a.m. ET.

The Canadian Press reported last week that Chong's bill will include a measure to allow MPs to vote to recall a leader and give party riding associations the ultimate say in electoral nominations, taking away the leader's power to sign off on candidates for the first time since 1970.
