This year, pop made room for both comeback kids as well as actual fresh-faced newcomers. We saw victorious returns from pop giants like Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga, but were also elated to see new talent in the form of Lorde and Ariana Grande.

And then there was Miley Cyrus, an anomaly that’s somewhere between the two. She’s not a new artist, yet her reinvention begs to be treated as a new chapter in her career; she’s not a girl, not yet a woman.

Regardless, there was no shortage of chart-topping pop hits this year — here are the top 10 pop albums of 2013.
