Rob Ford has responded to the latest explosive allegations about him in the way only Rob Ford can.
The Toronto mayor spoke to a Washington D.C. sports talk radio station Thursday morning and he concerned himself mostly with football and his predictions for this week's games. But the hosts of Sports Junkies on 106.7 The Fan did ask the mayor about whether he tried to buy the infamous crack tape for $5,000 and a car. That allegation is contained in police wiretap summaries released Wednesday and has not been tested in court.
"That's an outright lie," Ford said, before threatening to hang up if asked any more questions about the scandal.
Asked what the future holds, Ford said "the future is that I'm getting reelected."
The mayor rankled many on social media by saying women who participate in football pools just pick the "cutest guy" and expressing that he doesn't mind "two-tier healthcare."

Ford's comments come in the wake of an interview with the Toronto Sun's Joe Warmington Wednesday night. Ford told Warmnington the allegations contained in the new documents, which include talk of the mayor doing heroin and other drugs, are "so far fetched, it isn't even funny." Ford then deferred to his lawyer Dennis Morris for all other questions about the scandal.
Morris dismissed the allegations as meaningless chatter.
"It's all noise," Morris told Warmington. "It means nothing. It's A talking to B talking to C. Heck, there could be lots of people talking about Rob Ford right now."
Then, in typical Ford camp form, Morris lashed out at a favourite target.
"It's a final grasp of the media to try to put down the mayor," Morris said.
Ford and Morris made the comments on their way to a Christmas party at a bar in downtown Toronto. Prospective candidate and NDP MP Olivia Chow was also at the party, but there is no indication she met with the mayor.
Ford will participate in a meeting of Toronto City Council's Executive Committee Thursday, but he won't be chair. That designation now belongs to Deputy Mayor Norm Kelly, who was granted many of Ford's powers by council in a series of votes last month.
The mayor was captured on his way to work by a Toronto Sun photographer.
One has to wonder if Ford spent the car ride enjoying the Sun's latest front page: WIRE, WIRE, PANTS ON FIRE.
