Stolen Jesus statue returned to downtown Toronto church

A statue of Jesus has been returned to a downtown Toronto church after a four-day absence.

Toronto police were called to the Church of Saint Stephen-in-the-Fields on Saturday, after it was discovered that an outdoor statue had gone missing.

The "Whatsoever You Do" statue had been sitting outside the church since September. The church and artist Timothy Schmalz have been raising money to convert the resin sculpture to bronze.

Police issued a news release on Thursday to say that the statue had been returned "by unknown persons to the church premises" the day before.
