German sliders take gold, silver medals in World Cup luge doubles race

WHISTLER, B.C. - Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt of Germany won the World Cup luge doubles race Friday, edging teammates Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken.

Wendl and Arlt finished two runs in 1 minute, 13.087 seconds, extending their lead in the World Cup standings with their third win in four races on the circuit this season.

Eggert and Benecken were 0.084 seconds back for silver, and Austria's Peter Penz and Georg Fischler were 0.264 seconds off the pace in third.
