Const. Daniel Lacoursière of the Montreal police said a black Pontiac carrying a 90-year-old man and a 76-year-old woman hit two male pedestrians — one 29 and one 56 — after going through a red light at the intersection of Van Horne Avenue and Côte-des-Neiges Road.
The incident happened around 9:40 a.m. ET.
Lacoursière said the Pontiac was travelling westbound when it hit the pedestrians, before speeding up for an unknown reason and crashing into a Mercedes SUV carrying three people in their 20s and 30s at the corner of Lavoie Street.
The Pontiac sideswiped the SUV, which was also travelling westbound, before fishtailing into the opposite lane and hitting a second car.
The two people in the Pontiac and the three in the Mercedes SUV, as well as the two pedestrians, were transported to hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the second car was uninjured and not transported to hospital.
