Stolen truck crashes into police cars

Police have arrested a man they say is responsible for crashing a truck into several vehicles, including police cars, in Burnaby, B.C. early Sunday.

RCMP say the 37-year-old man allegedly stole a SUV in Surrey around 1:30 a.m. PT and drove it to Burnaby where he got into a five-tonne truck and crashed that vehicle into cars in the Lougheed Mall parking lot. No one was injured.

They say the suspect was then taken to Burnaby Hospital, where he caused a water main to break, forcing the emergency ward to be evacuated.

The ER at Burnaby General has since re-opened, although officials are encouraging patients to go to other hospitals.

There are no further details available at this time.
