Boeing 777 Aborted Landing Fits The Exact Definition Of A Close Call (VIDEO)

WATCH: Plane Nearly Blows Over During Landing

Someone call Merriam Webster because this plane just rewrote the definition of a "close call".

Footage of a Boeing 777 trying to land at Birmingham Airport in the U.K. has garnered over a million views since being uploaded on YouTube last week. "Trying" is the operative word here, as the Air Emirates plane is seen approaching the runway at a peculiar angle, only to pull up seconds later due to crosswinds battering the plane.

Crosswinds are exactly like what the sound: gusts of winds that blow across a runway, instead of parallel to the tarmac, making landings and take-offs more difficult for pilots. In a separate video, the plane, identified as Emirates flight EK 039 by the Birmingham Mail, tries a second time to land but with no success.

The flight was later redirected to Gatwick airport, some 224 km southeast of Birmingham, where it safely landed. Last week, a giant stormfront swept through the U.K. prompting some air travel delays and the evacuation of homes in the region's East Coast, the Daily Mirror reports.
