Protesters are planning to march from Victoria Island to Parliament Hill today to oppose what they call the federal government's 'unilateral' approach to First Nations education.

The Idle No More and Defenders of the Land protest will begin with a ceremony at Victoria Island at 11 a.m. ET Tuesday, according to a media release.

After the ceremony, protesters will march to Parliament Hill where speeches are set to start at noon.

Speakers are expected to discuss alternatives to the government's First Nation Education Act.

Ottawa police said Tuesday morning that no road closures had been planned.
