Ukrainian Montrealers react to tensions in Kiev

Tensions are still running high in Ukraine, and Ukrainians in Montreal are following the developments closely.

On state television, Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych defended his move to back out of a trade deal with the European Union and re-establish relations with Russia.

Yanukovych met with three of his predecessors to find a solution to the crisis he is facing, while protesters continue to demand his resignation and the government's dismissal.

Similar protests took place almost a decade ago during the Orange Revolution.

CBC's Caroline Arbour spoke with Ukrainians in Montreal as hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets of Kiev.
