Alberta's oilsands city getting 2 new schools, while Grande Prairie gets 1

EDMONTON - Alberta's oilsands city is getting two new schools.

Premier Alison Redford made the announcement in a news release on Friday.

One of the schools for Fort McMuray will be able to accommodate 600 kindergarten to Grade 8 students, while the other will be a Roman Catholic kindergarten to Grade 6, also for up to 600 students.

Grande Prairie will also get one new school.

Earlier this week, the Alberta government announced Grimshaw will get two replacement schools.

Last spring, Redford promised to build and modernize 120 schools.
