Man charged with threatening Premier Marois though Facebook

A 37-year-old man has been been arrested for allegedly making death threats against Quebec Premier Pauline Marois through his Facebook account.

The man from Trois-Rivières was arrested yesterday by the Sûreté du Québec and appeared in court today. 

SQ Sgt. Hugo Fournier said the provincial police seized electronic equipment from the man's residence, as well as a prohibited weapon. 

The man is facing charges of uttering threats against an elected official and possessing an illegal firearm.

Fournier said the suspect will be back in court Monday.
