Corey Potter to have NHL hearing for Bonino hit

Edmonton Oilers defenceman Corey Potter will meet Monday afternoon with the NHL's department of player safety to discuss his hit against Anaheim Ducks forward Nick Bonino in Sunday's game.

Potter received a 10-minute game misconduct and five-minute major for hitting Bonino from behind halfway through the second period in Anaheim.

The six-foot-three defenceman cross-checked Bonino, sending the Ducks forward sprawling into the boards.

Bonino looked to be favouring his back and briefly went to the dressing room, but he would eventually return to the game

Potter has posted three assists and 19 penalty minutes in nine games this season.
