So much for the warm weather, Calgary.

Environment Canada has issued a flash freeze warning for the City of Calgary, that will see temperatures plunge overnight Friday.

A rapidly moving cold front will descend upon Southern Alberta late Friday night, bringing with it strong winds of 50 to 70 kilometres per hour.

Five centimetres of snow is also expected to fall overnight.

Motorists are warned that the high winds, combined with blowing snow, could create near zero visibilities at times, especially on highways and over open areas.

The winds are expected to die down by Saturday morning, but the frigid temperatures will stick around through the weekend.
