France's former first lady and now pop singer, Carla Bruni, was planning to perform three shows in Quebec later this year. But it appears that poor ticket sales have nixed those dates.

The singer's promoters in Quebec confirmed her performances won't go ahead as planned due to "appalling ticket sales," the Daily Mail reports.

"Only a handful of tickets were sold," one promoter said, adding that refunds would be available at the various points of purchase.

According to a press release found on the Tandem.mu, the promoter's site, Bruni was slated to play three shows beginning April 21 at the Grand Theatre du Quebec in Quebec City, Montreal's Place Des Arts on April 22 and a third gig April 23 in Gatineau at the Casino du Lac-Leamy.

None of those dates now appear on her official site. However tickets for the Montreal concert -- priced from $61.79 to $84.41 -- still appear to be on sale according to the venue's site with no cancellation notice appearing as yet.

Approximately 100 tickets were sold for the Gatineau concert, promoter Richard Michaud told the Ottawa Citizen.

Bruni released her debut album Quelqu'un m'a dit back in 2003 before her English debut No Promises emerged in 2007 and sold approximately 500,000 globally. Her new album garnered some attention for one song in particular entitled "Chez Keith et Anita," a reference to Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards and his girlfriend Anita Pallenberg circa 1970.

The former model-turned-singer will still tour France this month according to her official site with dates in Austria, Switzerland and Germany planned in March.
