Siberian husky dies in Calgary alley after mouth taped shut

The Calgary Humane Society is looking for the person who taped shut the mouth of a Siberian husky, causing it to suffer and die.

The society is now investigating after reports that a cat was also found muzzled in the area.

The emaciated body of the dog was found in an alley in the 200 block of 99th Avenue southeast last Thursday.

The humane society calls it a clear case of intentional animal cruelty that caused significant suffering.

"The dog’s muzzle was taped shut with clear medical tape, possibly contributing to the dog’s physical condition and, ultimately, its death," said the society in a release.

“We hope someone is able to identify the dog so that we can ensure accountability for this cruel act and prevent future such acts.”

Anyone who recognizes the dog or has any information about the owner of this dog is strongly encouraged to contact the Calgary Humane Society protection and investigations department at 403-205-4455.
