CUPE Local 947, the union representing clerical staff, information technologists and teaching assistants, had issued a 72-hour strike notice on Wednesday, putting them in a strike position at the beginning of next week.
The Victoria local was the only one in B.C. to turn down the province's contract offer to clerical, information technology and education assistants. Members had opposed changes to their prescription-drug benefits package and voted 137-61 last month against the contract.
The same contract had been ratified by 56 other CUPE locals.Suggest a correction
